The Fear I have in Reciting

You're making me check my words twice

making sure they are perfectly in place. 

Feeling what I've numbed myself to 

conversations that never went beyond the surface

Finding my voice in my words

Dot those Is and pause in the right moments

Searching my eyes and I'm scared of what you'll find

Easier to hit submit than take those steps 

Eventually I'll trip my way onto the stage.

I have never had a problem reciting a poem live... However, I play guitar and sing... and have terrible stage fright. One time in Alaska during the summer... I was asked to fill an half hour on stage at the Talkeetna Bluegrass Fest. The highlight of my performance was when my little white dog jumped up on stage into my lap and knocked the guitar out of my hands... Funny thing is I actually played better after that. Lol. Thank you for that, the goal is this coming week to conquer the fear. If the mic falls and cracks a poor soul or I fall onto stage...maybe that poem will come out as it should instead of the typical shakey and cracking voice it's usually associated with haha good vibes!
