Missing

Missing

A Poem by gnarlym

I found a coin at work today
from somewhere far from here
and it just goes to show
that people do not pay attention
to the little things.
Like when a silver coin is out of place
and I wonder who it belonged to last.
Maybe the pride and joy of a young girl's coin collection
that her brother stole for another pack of cigarettes
or a grandfather's gift to his son's son
for getting an A plus on that spelling exam
or maybe it didn't belong to anyone,
not really,
but blind eyes and quick hands.

~~ this is incredibly fascinating and profound... ~~ it's triggered so many memories... but most of all... it makes me wonder about the story behind everyone and everything... ~~ the universe and its ways are skillfully hidden in this poem and yet gently revealed...
