pictures of eight am.

another all night morning
one more sunset eight am
grinning into sleepless crazy eyes
they can read the time
and buzzed, bewildered, dazed and hazy
but they don't ask
they don't know why,
one more nothing they won't try

the gray light of one more
tomorrow morning
another almost-not-quite
born in one more
yesterday night
almost barely touching alright
that just can't seem to
get it right

close enough to touch
and light enough to see
disappearing from your fingertips
like last night's shadows
vanishing
see it fading from the walls
in one more early morning sunset
one more brushstroke paints a picture
and it seems like it won't ever finish

but who can say what makes it done,
maybe we'll know by one more sun
maybe we just need another one
