orion's belt

orion's belt

A Poem by Rachel DeHart

if I said this any louder I’d be screaming

because you can not fall for me.

everyone looks, ooo’s and ahh’s saying

things like

there is just something about you

They all say it,

you know?

every one is always drooling

saying “you just do something to me”

something that just...

                f***s everything up,

                                right?

Because I am tired of this never

working out.

I think I might be wired wrong.

and none of my thoughts are coming out

exactly how I want them to.

there is a lot I want to say right now.

like how I can not be with you.

with anyone.

how I can taste my own poison in my kiss.

there is nothing here for you.

all of that lust and desire, all of your

blood rushing through your veins.

Its smoke and mirrors.

I am really not that great.

Please. change your course.

find a better north star to follow

other than my orion's belt.

there is nothing here for you.

"all of that lust and desire, all of your
blood rushing through your veins.
Its smoke and mirrors.
I am really not that great." - this stanza really struck me. i love how you have this amazing image of smoke and mirrors flowing through veins followed by such a blunt and self deprecating statment. powerful.

i also really liked the line about tasting the poison in your own kiss. i can relate to that.

There's a stark warning among the serious passion of your words here, I like the raw expression and form.
