this is an old write of mine which i tweaked on the occasion of V day ..

Love is chaste , Love is pure

everyone can't have it, that's for sure.

 

A few lucky ones have their share

but in all certainty, they hardly care.

 

Ask a person who has loved and lost

to know of the adversities he has fought.

 

So keep loving and living each day

never letting go of your 'heartbeat', come what may ..

I have lived half my life believing that something was love and it was not. But I did not give up. I did not get discouraged. And I did finally find true love.
i like the message here. It does seem as though some people don't care about what they have and it aggravates me.

I'm not sure if the point is 'Love because love is awesome' or 'Love is weirdly painful and not universally available so beware trying'

The couplet scheme is okay, but 'lost' and 'fought' don't really rhyme, and it's not like there aren't lines you can write that would work. 'to know the adversities love has cost', 'to hear of the ways their lives have been tossed, 'to hear of their pain and effort exhaust', etc. It's eight lines, you can pour quality into all of them with a little time.

I like the picture. Not sure how much it relates to the poem, but I'm guessing you're going for a 'lone swan/duck=unloved' kinda thing here, and that's cool.

Also a bit like the verse in the Bible.. "Love does not envy".. ect.
