The TrainsA Poem by Samuel Ferris
The crackling hum of a transformer near byseem's to hiss from all angles.
A train rattles in the distance;
the ominous engine beating, lurching
forward, metal against metal,
screaming
like banchees and old horror flicks.
The giganticness of it overtakes the electrified hum,
and as soon as it was it wasnt,
the engine beating on down the tracks.
The silence creeps back.
into existance until all
that remains
is
the hum,
and the occasional
chirpings
of crickets.
