Walking

I'm walking, always walking

Without ever knowing why

I wonder if there's a future ahead of me
Or if I have something I left behind
Day and night go by like dreams
I'm always waking up from one

Or is that I have yet to wake
I have yet to make real a dream

'You can't stay the way you are'

People tell me as I walk by
But I find nothing more comforting
Than someone not saying 'hi'

Must I think to live as others do

Though a blank whiteness spreads far and wide
Am I a ghost or am I alive?
Maybe I walk to find out why
