Heliocentric

Heliocentric

A Poem by Cal
"

it is the east, and Juliet is the sun

"

if

i could,

i would pull

the night sky down

and i would weave it

into a tapestry, into a quilt:

the heavens themselves

would keep you snug, swaddled

in a cloak of light and darkness

of my own making.

the constellations would tattoo themselves

on your limbs, your body; the stars

unaccounted for

would set themselves ablaze,

pinpricks of light rushing ever faster

towards death,

whirling around your head,

a halo of pure fire.

would you then

cast off your robes of galaxies

and show me your holy self?

or would you choose

to remain hidden, with

the night sky keeping you here

with me?

either way, i think

that your ethereal crown would

darken, then cool:

red giants,

black dwarfs.
