What I Think Of You

What I Think Of You

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

Every day I think of you

Of all the things you said to me

Of all the things you did to me

And how they made me feel

I used to hate what I saw in the mirror

All I could see were my imperfections

And your face glaring back at me

Telling me that I'm ugly

I took everything you said to heart

It tore me up on the inside

When you hear a lie so many times

Sometimes it's hard to know what's the truth

Every night I think of you

Of all the false things I fed into

Only now I know better than to believe you

I know everything you said was a vicious lie

Now I love what I see in the mirror

I think of all the things you said to me

And instead of tearing me up

They make me feel that much stronger
