The Story of My Life (So Far)

The Story of My Life (So Far)

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

Elementary school was torture

Middle school wasn't much better

And high school was plain Hell

Every day was another chance

For my peers to poke fun at my expense

And believe me, they took advantage of it

From asking me why I was so strange

To telling teachers that I smelled

I remember you asking me if I showered

Talking about me behind my back

Not knowing that I was right behind you

And I could hear every word you said

Calling me a snitch when my life is at risk

Calling me a B***h because I want to fit in

No matter what I do it's always wrong

Every step I take is in the wrong direction

Every move I make offends someone

I try to be good but someone's always angry with me

I've literally been to Hell and back

And despite all their tries I made it out alive

And college is so much better
