Repeating the Cycle

Repeating the Cycle

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I look for any excuse

To come over and talk to you

I search for every reason

That we should meet up

I say I'm cool being friends

But that's not what I meant

Because I'm falling hard for you

I'm falling faster than I have a right to

This happens every time

And I always end up getting burned

I should know better by now

But your voice makes me crazy

How many times

Can I check my e-mail?
I should really turn off my phone

Because you're not texting back

But I still look for every excuse

And I still search for every reason

And I'll keep repeating the cycle

Sooner or later I'll get it right
