Your Name

Your Name

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I used to scream your name

On the playground

I wasn't ashamed

To admit how crazy I was about you

I used to scribble our names

Side by side

In my notebook

With little hearts in-between

I used to chase you around

And when I caught you

I would kiss you on the cheek

And you wouldn't speak to me for weeks

We used to have pine cone wars

You told me I hit like a whip

But it was all fun and games

You hit me right back

You used to date all my girlfriends

And I would be jealous
But I would pretend I was okay with it

Inside I was wondering what's wrong with me?

I used to cry at night

Because you didn't want me

I used to scream your name

Into my pillow

Now I'm ashamed

By the way

I threw myself at you
And we haven't spoken in years
