two poems

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

You seem to have forgotten

That once you and I were friends

Back in elementary school

We sat at the same lunch table

And chased each other on the playground

You seem to have forgotten

All the times we played hot lava

Daring each other on the money bars

We made up crazy stories

We were astronauts and pokemon

Then you made a new friend

Who was a bully

And I tried to accept her in our groop

But you pushed me away

You'd rather play with the newer model

They say people change

It's not always for the better

You used to be kind and sweet

Until you joined their clique

We used to hang out at your house

We were best friends

But you were homeschooled for a year

And when you came back you were diffrent

Suddenly I wasn't good enough

Because I wasn't popular

You gave up a true best friend

For ones who'll never have your back

I watched you change

It wasn't for the better

Because you became just as stuck-up

As the ones you used to hate
