Edge of the Water

Edge of the Water

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

Do you ever feel like all your prayers are coming true?
Like maybe He was listening all along

And it's like He's handing it to you on a silver platter

With a big sign pointing to it, reading

Here it is, if you want it, then take it

It's like He cleared the path for you

The one that led you to the edge of the water

And He extended His hand out to you

And He said take my hand and just believe

I promise if you have faith in Me, then you won't ever sink

And it's like He's up there shaking His head at you

Saying Haley, what am I going to do with you?

How could I possibly make it any easier?

I can take you to the water but I can't make you drink

I don't know what else you expect Me to do

It's like all my prayers are finally being answered

But instead of taking His hand I ran in the opposite direction

Because I didn't have enough faith in myself

Because even when He held it out in front of me and offered it to me

I didn't have the strength to cross the water
