4. Never Know

4. Never Know

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

Thank you for nothing.

"

I guess we'll never know

All that we could have been

I guess this is goodbye

To all we could have had

We were so young back then

And I was a fool with a heart

I fell too hard too fast

And I assumed you did too

It kills me to know

How you gave up so easily

Maybe we wouldn't have lasted after all

But now we'll never know

Honey, we could have been amazing

I gave you everything I had

I've got nothing left of myself to give

Because you never gave me anything in return

Maybe we would have lasted

Baby, we'll never know

We were so young back then

And I was the fool who fell for you

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
This poem is several years old. I think I've matured a lot since this was written. My style is more mature. However, it's poems like these that will always be close to my heart because it was during a very difficult period of my life when I started to write this and other similar poems. It was the beginning of my career as a poet.
