6. Erase

6. Erase

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

I'm not going anywhere.

"

You can pretend like it never happened

But that doesn't change the fact that it did

You can tell people I'm delusional

But I know it wasn't just in my head

You're embarrassed that you ever liked me

You said you must have been crazy

Do you know how hurtful that is?

To watch you act like I never meant anything to you

You can't change our history

You can't erase our names

They're still side by side on the wall

You can't paint over them

You spread your lies all over town

And they all listen to you

But you and I know the truth

I'm not ashamed to admit to us

They all think I'm a sad, lost, lonely girl

And that's no thanks to you

You can't wash your hands of me

I won't disappear just because you want me to

It's not that I want you back

It's just that I need to hear you say

It wasn't all just in my head

I'm not crazy, you really loved me

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
This poem is about a guy who liked me and then after we "broke up" he started to backtrack on everything. It was obvious that he thought I was crazy. He was embarrased that he'd ever showed any interest in me and tried to down play it. That is the most hurtful part.
