7. Regret

7. Regret

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

You don't regret it at all...

"

I’m not one to look back with regret

About things I did or didn’t do

But if there’s one thing that I regret

It’s how I handled you

You never saw this one coming

I left you stunned and walked away

I turned my back on you

When you needed me most

I’d ask you for a second chance

But I know that for you the hurt is still fresh

There’s nothing I can do for you

To make you see that I realize my mistake

I can’t tell you how sorry I am

I never wanted any of this to happen

You deserve someone so much better than me

I just want you to know that I regret it everyday

And I will live the rest of my life

Knowing that I let the best thing I had slip away

I never got to feel her lips on mine

The fragile girl that I let get away

Haley Lynn Thomas
This poem is from the perspective of a boy. It's sort of what I wish he would have said to me. It's sort of my own ending to our story.
