18. A Sour Note

18. A Sour Note

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

At least I tried.

"
I wasn't musically inclined
Not every child is
You can't force them to succeed
At something they're just not good at
because no amount of practice
Will lead to perfection

You called me out in front of everyone
Sent me out into the hallway
Like it was my fault I had small hands
That made it difficult to play
I was already an outcast
So thank you for giving them another reason

You took everything so seriously
Like playing that stupid plastic thing
Was some life skill I just couldn't live without
Well I seem to have managed just fine
So I guess it was a waste of your time
You don't need to get so worked up over me

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
This is about an elementary school music teacher. We had to learn how to play the recorder. I wasn't very good and my teacher humiliated me in front of the entire class! Throughout the three years that she was my teacher she made sure I knew just how bad I was. So this one is for her.
