24. No Fool

24. No Fool

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

No more.

"

Do I look like a fool?
Because you certainly treat me like one

But those days are long gone

I won't submit to you anymore

You think you've got all the power

But the clock is about to strike my hour

So get off your high horse

This is my kingdom and you're not welcome here

Once upon a time I was weak

Once upon a time you tried to control me

You thought you could own me

But I'm not your property

I was too scared to leave you

You left me feeling like I had no options

Until I saw through your deceit

The lies that were intended to keep me

Do I look stupid to you?
That was always your excuse

For so many years I put up with the abuse

But now I know I don't have to

Once upon a time I thought I loved you

But love doesn't feel like this

Once upon a time you made me believe

That I needed you to survive

Then came the day I broke free from you

I told you I wasn't your puppet anymore

Now I'm the one pulling my own strings

You'll never beat me again
