32. Red Balloon

32. Red Balloon

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas

I filled up a big red balloon

And attached a letter addressed to you

And I hope you get mail up in heaven

So you can read this and know…

That I love you so very much

And I think about you all the time

And I miss you every single day

And I know I'll never be the same

I look back at all the wasted time

And wish that I could go back in time

And spend all of those moments with you

I never thought that I would lose you

And I should have told you I love you

And told you how much you meant to me

I never dreamed that I’d run out of time

And I never got to say goodbye

So I’m filling up a big red balloon

And attaching a letter I wrote to you

And I hope you get mail up in heaven

And now you know what I needed you to

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
THis is the first poem I wrote for my grandpa after he died. I felt like I never showed him how much I loved him while he was alive and I was feeling very guilty about that. I felt so much better after writing this poem. I feel like I'm now at peace.
