44. To Know A Broken Heart

44. To Know A Broken Heart

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

It's on the mend now.

"

I thought I knew a broken heart

I couldn't have been more wrong

I thought it was painful when I was fifteen

That was nothing compared to this

No one has the power to hurt me

The way that you do

You raised me as your own

Then turned your back on me

I've weathered violent storms

I thought I'd made it through the worst

But there was no rainbow waiting for me

Only another wanting to break me

Now I know what it means

To suffer from a broken heart

You taught me what it feels like

To struggle to piece it back together

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
This is about me sort of realizing that all the drama from my teenage years were so petty and ridiculous. When you learn true pain all the other stuff doesn't seem nearly as bad in comparison.
