56. Family

I love you. Don't give up.

There are some things

That I don't think you understand

You think that this is what I wanted

But this isn't what I wanted at all

I never wanted things to be this way

How many times can I say

I love you and I just want you back

I want the family we used to have

I know you're scared

And quite frankly I'm frightened too

I don't know where this change

Will bring us

It's so different from the way

We've been living up until now

Because for the first time in years

We're finally communicating

There are some things

That I hope you now understand

I never wanted you to leave in the first place

And I'll never give up on our family

Author's Note

Over the last four years my family has sort of fallen apart. Right now we are working to fix our issues and rebuild our bonds. This is a poem about that.
