65. No Accident

65. No Accident

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

No one to blame but yourself.

"

One second your laughing in the driver's seat

The next your world is turned upside down

Glass shatters, the airbags deploy

Blood splattered, pain everywhere

You try to scream but you can't breathe

You wake up in a hospital bed

To learn you'll never walk again

Your friends are both dead

They tell you, “you were lucky to survive”

But all you feel is numb

Keep pinching yourself, it can't be real

Any minute you'll wake up

Close your eyes, pray for a miracle

You can't fathom how you ended up here

You don't even remember what you did tonight

A night of celebration gone wrong

A blood alcohol level three times the legal limit

22 and confined to a wheel chair

Arthur and Macy dead at 25

And tomorrow when you wake up, you'll be dead too

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
This poem is about the repercussions of drinking and driving. Again, all of the names are just random. I wrote down the first ones that popped into my head. This poem is not about any particular person.
