74. Last Night

74. Last Night

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

Work it out.

"

Last night you didn't come to bed

You slept on the couch

You were feeling frustrated

That same old fight again

Last night you packed your suitcase

You spent the night at a motel

You came home in the morning

I could see that you'd been crying

Last night you didn't return my calls

I left you twenty two messages

I begged you to come back home

So that we could work this out

Last night we had the same old fight again

Only this time you didn't leave

You said “tonight we won't go to bed angry

We'll stay up even if it takes all night”

Last night we rewrote out vows

And remembered all the reasons we'd fallen in love

And last night I wrote you this poem

To tell you how happy I am that you stayed

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
I feel like so many people just give up on their marriages. Why would you not try to make it work? You marry someone because you love them and want to stay with them forever, right? So why just give up when things get rough?
