90. All I Ever Wanted

90. All I Ever Wanted

A Chapter by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

Like I knew when I was a kid.

"

I never really asked all that much out of you

All I ever wanted was a boyfriend who wanted me

I saw you for the first time through the glass

When your reflection caught my eye

You were everything that I’d dreamed of

My daddy, he loved you

Maybe even more than he loved me

But we were both just blinded by your fake sincerity

You told everyone that I was crazy and clingy

You said that you weren’t ready for this

Now, maybe I could have taken it a little better

But if you weren't ready then why did you go for it?

All I ever wanted was to hear you say “I’m sorry”

But you pass me by everyday and you never say a thing

And when I see you with that other girl I know

That you’re not even close to being all I ever wanted

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
This is a poem I wrote when I was fifteen. I feel almost (Almost!) guilty for posting this because this isn't exactly a nice poem. At the time I wrote it, though, I was beyond angry. I was feeling hurt and betrayed and unlovable. I lashed out through my poetry. But I posted this poem because it's a part of me. It's a part of my life. It's a moment that I will never forget. Oh, and obviously my Daddy would never love any boy over me! this was written in the heat of the moment.
