Brilliant

Brilliant

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

What would you do

If someone were to tell you

That all you know isn’t real

So forget what you feel

You’re increasingly paranoid

Hallucinations you’re trying to avoid

When your world falls apart

You’ve no clue where to start

What would you do

If someone were to tell you

Your best friend doesn’t exist

But he sure will be missed

You have  a brilliant mind

It’s one of a kind

And they may say you’re crazy

Your meds make everything hazy

What would you do

If someone were to tell you

Everything you know is a lie

Now it’s time to say goodbye

What would you do

If someone where to tell you

You have a beautiful mind

But your heart is hard to find

Author's Note

Haley Lynn Thomas
A couple of weeks ago in my Abnormal Psychology class we watched the film A Beautiful Mind. I'm not generally a movie person, but I quite liked this one. I try to take every movie that's based on a true story with a grain of salt. So many things are changed or added to make it more emotional or interesting than reality. But I decided to write a poem about the film!
