Another Beautiful Soul

I wrote this for all of you.

You’re standing in the cemetery

In the middle of the night

You’re staring at the words on her headstone

Beloved daughter and friend

 

You’re thinking to yourself

Could I have changed her fate?

If maybe instead of being a bully

I’d tried to be her friend

 

You’re thinking to yourself

The last words you said to her on her last day

How she was ugly and unlovable

And how your name ended up in her letter

 

The note she left on her bed

Said that your vicious lies had been the last straw

The thing that pushed her over the edge

Were the disgusting rumors that you’d spread

 

And you’re thinking to yourself

You may as well have been the one to pull the trigger

You may as well have killed her yourself

Because you’re the one who destroyed her spirit

 

And the real tragedy is you have to live with it

Every day knowing it’s because of you

That her parents lost their daughter

And the world lost another beautiful soul

Author's Note

This poem is about a girl who commits suicide after being bullied. I was bullied relentlessly. I found the strength to push through and get better, but some don't. "I wrote this for all of you" means it's meant for everyone who bullied me.

I admire you're courage and strength to make it through your hardships, and to be able to express yourself so vividly like this. In my opinion though, the bully and the person who committed suicide are weak and cowards. It takes a monster to break someone down, no matter who that person is. A w***e, a nerd, or even yourself. It take strength to persevere and grow from hardships, but that's just my opinion.
