Black and White

Black and White

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

It's funny how when you're in such a good place in your life, you can write a poem about your past and it doesn't hurt anymore.

"

You stole away my innocence

Snatched off my rose colored glasses

So that I would see the world

The way that you do

Now everything is black and white

Everyone is either good or bad

There is a clear line

That you dare not cross

The sun shines but it doesn't warm

My heart beats but it doesn't feel

I'm as empty as a jack-o-lantern

Whose candle has been blown out

I lay underneath a thick blanket of darkness

One that's slowly suffocating me

I can move but I can't breathe

I can't see a foot in front of me

Everything is either wrong or right

You're either friend or sworn enemy

Whose side are you on anyway?
No one will stand beside me

You stole away my happiness
With one single, lethal kiss

So taht I say the world

The way that you do
