I Don't Care About You Anymore

I Don't Care About You Anymore

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I used to think I needed your forgiveness

In order for me to move on

I used to think that I needed us to be alright

Before I could be myself

I used to think that I required your love

In order to keep on breathing

But in reality you were slowly suffocating me

I was sinking and you let me drown

And then one day the realization hit me

Why was I wasting all my time thinking about you?

When you never thought about me

When you never even cared about me

Now I don’t care what you think about me anymore

If you think I’m the devil in disguise

Then let me tell you that’s alright

Because if you hate me then you’re just wasting your time

Yours is just one opinion

And your opinion doesn’t mean anything to me now

Because I know that I’m not the person you see

Because I know that I deserve better than what you’ve given me
