Men Like You

Men Like You

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

There’s a name for men like you

I call it cruel

Or perhaps just plain insensitive

How old are we

That we still play these games

It’s so damn immature

Only cowards take shots like you

Real men stand up

You still run like you’re two

But running is all you’ve ever known how to do

Out of every mistake I’ve ever made

You’re the one I regret the most

I don’t know what I ever saw in you

I must have been delusional

To ever have cared about you

I was fine before you

And I’m even better now

That you’re no longer in my life

Because there’s a name for men like you

I call it insignificant

Because that’s all you’ll ever be

I know a guy like the one you're describing. It made me laugh, how valid this writing applies to him. I love the setup and word choice of the poem and the last stanza is probably my favorite mostly because it gave a perfect ending to the poem.
