Too Much

Too Much

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

Where do I draw the line
And say this is too much?
I can't pretend it's fine
Even though I miss your touch

How many times will I swallow
All the lies you tell?
You lead and I follow
But like a tree we fell

When did you become so hate filled?
When did you become so bitter?
Was a part of your soul killed
When you became a quitter?

You're not the man I knew
Is he gone for good?
I'm searching for a clue
And knocking on some wood

Will you come back to me?
And this time will you stay?
You've brought me to my knees
But I can't seem to keep away

I still have a glimmer of hope
That we'll figure this thing out
Well find a way to cope
And maybe not always have to shout

But I watch these moments fade
And they leave behind scars
But these memories that we made
Remain forever in the stars

But this is just too much
All the lies that you rehearse
You're no longer my crutch
This is a mistake you can't reverse

You're not the man I love
You've turned into a stranger
You're no longer my angel from above
Now you're a lone ranger
