GoldilocksA Poem by Haley Lynn ThomasA poem about where I am in my life right now.My world just got a bit bigger The road I was on came to an end I had the option to go left or right I don’t know what waits ahead
Each choice sets me on a path I can follow or turn back There’s a row of doors before me Which one is calling my name?
He hands me a ring of keys And tells me one will make me happy I tried to ask him which one But he just laughed and said “it’s up to you”
So I put on a couple of masks To see how they would fit I kind of felt like Goldilocks Attempting to find the one that’s just right
This street is anything but smooth I’ve been bumped and bruised I let the world shove me around But I’m the one who’s in control now
Compromise is a part of life We don’t always get what we want But I refuse to give up on my dream I’m just taking a detour
I’ve learned a lot on this journey I’ve faced plenty of hardships But I know at the end of this road I’ll find my very own rainbow © 2014 Haley Lynn Thomas |
