So Much to Say

So Much to Say

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I wish you would stop running

I’ve got so much to say

But you won’t let me get close enough

I’m growing weary of this fight

I’m beginning to think I’m wasting time

Chasing you has become exhausting

You’re always a step ahead

So eager to have me choke on your dust

If only you knew my intentions

If only you would stop and hear me out

If only you could let me explain

All I really want to say is

I’m sorry that I hurt you

I’m so sorry for the way I treated you

I wish I could take it all back

Maybe then we could be friends again

I swear that I don’t bite

My motives aren’t sinister like you think

I promise this isn’t a trap

I’m not out for your blood

I’m just sorry it ended the way it did

I’m sorry you never felt the same

I’m sorry if I was too intense

I’m sorry I went and messed everything up

I'm sorry that you hate me

But I wish you would give me a chance

I'm sorry that I burned you

Or if I ever made you feel small

I guess what I'm trying to say

Is I'm sorry for breaking both of us

I never meant to throw you under the bus

All I wanted was a piece of your love

I wish you would stop running

Because I've lost all of my strength

I can't keep fighting you

But I'm sorry I let you down
