I'm With You Tonight

I'm With You Tonight

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

I am one of many people who know what it means to be bullied. This poem is about what a bullied child needs from their parents; and what I received.

"

I know you can’t take away the pain

You can’t make it magically better

You don’t have a wand to wave

To erase all of the heartbreak

But all that I need

Are your arms surrounding me

Tell me it will be alright

Even if it isn’t tonight

Make today a distant memory

And tomorrow taste like victory

You don’t even have to speak

Just grip me tight and let me cry

Find a way to distract me

From the agony that I’m feeling

Tell me funny stories of my early days

Make me laugh until I can’t breathe

I know you can’t fix this

You can’t make them play nice

You don’t have the power to melt the ice

But you can let me know you love me

Because all that I really need

Is a shoulder to rest my head on

And tell me it will be alright

Because I’m with you tonight
