Abandon

Abandon

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas

I miss your laughter

As it mixes with mine

I miss how you took care of me

When I was your priority

I miss you doing anything

To put a smile on my face

I miss your arms being wide open

To catch me when I stumble

You promised me you’d be there

So where did you go?

Honey, I took a leap of faith

My heart got broken when I landed

How could you leave me stranded?

You save me just to abandon

When you decide we’re too much work

And surrendering is just easier

Now the sound of your laughter

No longer mixes with mine

Do you see this mess you’ve created?

I won’t help you sweep it up

You don’t care now, do you?

You already walked out the door

So the next time your arms are open

I’ll fall into his instead

Beautiful writing.
The imagery once again brilliant.
And the flow and the pace of this poem are great.
The pain of a broken heart and trust shines though.

Thank you for sharing.

I really enjoyed the pace and story behind this poem, I could really feel the emotions and I like the last part where she is in another's arms, a twist on the usual broken loved one, who doesn't go on...this one had the twist where she is able to see herself with someone else. Well done!
