Red Balloon

A poem that I wrote after my grandfather passed away. I love you grandpa :)

I filled up a big red balloon

And attached a letter addressed to you

I hope you get mail up in heaven

So you can read this and know…

 

That I love you so very much

And I think about you all the time

I miss you every single day

And I know I will never be the same

 

I look back at all the wasted time

And wish I could go back in time

And spend all of those moments with you

I never thought you would be gone

 

I should’ve told you I love you

And told you how much you meant to me

I never dreamed I’d run out of time

I never got to say a final goodbye

 

So I’m filling up a big red balloon

And attaching a letter I wrote to you

I hope you get mail up in heaven

And you know now what I needed you to

 

Now I can sleep well tonight

And put my heart back on the mend

I have finally come to a place of peace

And I’ll awake tomorrow feeling brand new
