Come Home

Come Home

A Poem by Haley Lynn Thomas
"

Family sticks together

"

If you run away tonight

Will you come back tomorrow?

Will I ever see you again?

Have you forgotten about your family?

The only ones you have

Or have you traded us in for something better?

Your punishing the ones who are innocent

Somewhere an old woman sits in her chair weeping

And a young girl wonders who you are

She can only know you from stories told

Can only see you through photos on the mantel

They don't even know it you're alive

Somewhere a middle aged man sits

Wondering who he's given up

Saying to himself “I'll be back home tomorrow”
