The Waves.A Poem by HannahAn ode to someone who caused this feeling...
The current has subdued from its tireless reign;
The foam settled and the roar silenced. I am no longer caught in the endless white squall- Heaving, begging, enduring. I stand on the shore, my feet planted in sand; I am steady, balanced. The water still tries to pull me in and carry me back, To the blue and the white and the black- The infinite black. But I am safe here, I am untouchable. In the distance I still see the uneven horizon, As the tyrant lurks beneath the surface, Breaking the sheer veil of serene beauty, With its demand for domination, for destruction. I know the waters will rise again; The sand will wash away, And I will have to stand on my own, But this time I can see them, I know how they form and crash and build; I know how to break free from the grip, How to swim away and keep breathing. This time I will not be drowned by them- The waves. © 2013 HannahFeatured Review
