mermaidsA Poem by New DawnsnapshotWe are last on the beach, determined to eat despite the wind that bows the beach tent almost in two. I sit huddled , arms wrapped around sleeping child, Whilst anaemic sausages attempt to tan on disposable coals. Seagulls watch with impatient eye cawing wistfully at the slowly warming bounty and out on the sandbank our daughters dance and twirl caught up in a game of mermaids against a pink and orange sky © 2012 New DawnReviews
