One Day

One Day

A Poem by New Dawn

One day
perhaps
we will win the lottery
our ship will come in
all good fortune will head our way.
One day
perhaps
we will afford the best of food
at the supermarket
parade around in designer wear
dine out on the weekends.
One day
perhaps
we will take long, lazy holidays

in warm climates

watching others work
as we have worked.
One day
perhaps

we will own a house

that others envy,

hold parties in the garden

until the early hours.

One day, perhaps!
Not today
