Entry for a contest .

Whimper

It is not with a bang

that we will leave this mortal coil;

bathed in brilliant light of searing heat.

We will not implode

Like a dying star, outward particles

In scattered array expanding;

It is not with a bang.

Instead we will fade, into decay

Into history, into past, into gray

Of nothingness

It will be with a whimper

If that's not much, then I hate to see when you've been doing it for a while. Short, concise, distilled down to its essence. The theme is not overly original, but who cares, when it's well done like this. Great job.
