Moments of Pleasure

Late Summer ..

    scatterings of bare foot memories

    blatant in careless tread

    mid steep sea-bruised cliffs..

    cool calm in white cotton;   I pause

    peering t'wards feet 

    where growth bends -

    peacock hints of a great river  

    bidding Earth's unseen siesta  

    but ever aware..

 

    Strangely 

    a bliss of mauve-grey incandescence,

    moments of pleasure -

    shadows of a life-lost stone, 

    in deep pocket mysterious size,

    kicked and rolled,  

    dropped in gentleness

    from a scrawny skeleton -

    a nearby chapel

    in tragic demise..

    that stone

    glistens my toes in the rough wild  of

    verdant made history til

    angel-winged seeds spray  

    will-be 'denti de leone';

    tragic past  near destroyed

    a forgotten hill-high haven;  

    lids shut 'pon freckled cheek

    I pause, imagining 

    what once stood here.. 

 

    Minutes pass,

    feet flinch 'pon grassy path

    sharp, matt, dear dead

    moss no more, come by, come lie

    portrays a once warm welcome

    but now near fallen to

    ugly nothingness by time..

    a second inanimate lies

    the breadth of my palm..

    weeping - I let it fall..

    Shines sun -

    glows light above lovers a 'passion,

    lips stained with sins

    far too numerous to list-

    less with faint ink-less hues.

    maligned graphic sensations.  

    comes smiling zenith as her

    eyes blaze in the blush of idyll's color.

    sky scatters thought till 

    I gasp, soaring space..

 

   Tomorrow 

    pens ten other chapters in sweet ash. 

    butterflies will flit in myriads

    to the music of English gardens

    gliding veiled visages,

    as plump nun-like clouds

    float digited benisons at 

    this she crazed adventurer

    as an unseen 'Andiamo'

    echoes over the waving sea
