I Am a Congregation of One

I Am a Congregation of One

A Poem by Robert Scott Sole

I observe bedtime prayers
from beautiful cathedrals
of Pine and air...
and I am heard.
I commune where
water flows Simon-pure,
from mountain streams and brooks...
and I am watered.
The wind fills the empty spaces
where blue skies break free
from wall forming creeds;
the sun warms me as I
watch the grass, like Dominoes,
one after the other,
dipping their colors
in reserved, respectful recognition
as the wind yaws across the meadow.
I close my eyes,
back pressed against
pews of earth and stone.
With wind whispered words,
the surrounding silence speaks to me
of unity, and peace,
and I am fed.

I am a congregation of one.
