As a somewhat shy modest individual...

As a somewhat shy modest individual...

A Poem by matthew scott harris
"

i struck up an online rapport with an administrative person stationed in California in my satisfaction with the HYUNDAI brand since the previous two vehicles + the current Elantra delivered quality.

"

nevertheless, I feel flattered

at being complimented,
and go about my business
of living try to bring

a measure of peace on earth
and good will to men/women
who cross my real or virtual path
without any great expectations
(by Dickens) except
for the sheer joy to express zest
(like singing a Christmas Carol ever day)
narrating what I surmise
counted as Hard Times

about an automotive industry
whose products and services blessed
with quality employees
deserving of a laudatory crest
representing peak performance
as if surmounting
the summit of Mount Everest
conscious that automobiles
in this case undergo
a rigorous field-test

thus honored and fêted
to be invited as a guest

to your figurative table
and imagine dragon
a plush wingback chair
allowing, enabling, and providing
the comfort of a cushioned headrest
even though discussion underway
involves solutions to invest

the customer a painstakingly crafted
freshly minted automobile,
where skilled technicians
on the assembly line
nsync with mechanical robots,
(whose artificial intelligence
possessed with the
human ability to jest),
yet with laser like precision
put hefty programmed
electronic components together
as they must
exactly be fittingly arranged lest
a glorious and storied reputation
beginning with the gifted
once poor Korean boy born
in North Korea in 1915
as the eldest son
of a poor peasant farming family

embark at the tender he age of 18,
whereat he set off for good
to Seoul with hopes
of finding a better life
unaware that a superlative
destiny would manifest

and rocket the Hyundai
translated from Korean
to mean “modernity,”
and reflect a corporate focus
on innovation, with a slogan
of “New Thinking, New Possibilities,”

abiding by the dictum

"A bird in the hand
is worth two in the bush"
(often misquoted as "in the nest")

thus soul asylum
their collective nose(s)
to the grindstone obsessed
of dedicated strong
men and women pressed
with perfection, and reckon eyes
absolute zero tolerance
against even the slightest flaw
could violate a mental,
physical and spiritual quest

before reaching the age of retirement

and take a much needed
and well earned rest
modeled without the
ingestion of hallucinogens
experiencing something analogous to
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
ecstasy ideally derived
from voluntarily allowing, enabling
and permitting management to wrest
every iota of commitment
from qualified hired hands.

adieu from Matthew Scott Harris
