THE SORROW IN MY EYES

Like a fool I loved you

 

   even when you lied to me

 

And forgave you when you hurt me

 

All those times you couldn't see

 

And like a child I believed in you -

 

   the times you made me smile              

 

But when I offered you my world

 

You said it wasn't worth your while

 

 

Now I look up at the midnight skies

 

But I'm sure that the stars tell lies

 

And somewhere through the distant night

 

Lies the sorrow in my eyes.
