God and His Love for You

God and His Love for You

A Story by BlueShadow

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Allen. Allen’s dad was a janitor at Center High School and his mother was a quilt-maker. His father worked every day from eight in the morning to five in the afternoon. His father had green eyes and a beard of old age. His father was fifty-three. His father, Max, loved Allen as any father would have. He loved him unconditionally and without expectation. Allen’s mom, Sarah, loved to make quilts at her home during the daytime. She sometimes knitted stars, and animals, and even people. She too enjoyed her job. She sold her quilts at the local marketplace in the eastern edge of town.  Allen loved his parents so much and they loved him with all their hearts, too.

Allen didn’t particularly like school because he found the teachers to be rather mean and the students to be rather lazy. The only class he really liked was English where he got to read stories about monsters and people from far away places. School was difficult for Allen, but once the day was over, he got to ride his bike home. He rode his bike to and from school in order to feel happier and so that he could get exercise. His bicycle was a birthday present his parents got for him when he was a year younger.

One day, Allen’s father decided it was time to look for a new job, since the one he had didn’t pay him enough. As Allen’s father was driving to work one day, he swerved too far to the right and got in a car accident. He fractured his neck and was in deep pain. He worried about his job, Sarah, and most importantly of all, Allen. Once Allen heard that his father got in an accident, he left school early and decided to come home.

Allen’s father was in the hospital where Allen and his mom were waiting and hoping for a speedy recovery. They waited about two days until Allen’s father sadly passed away. The doctors said they couldn’t fix the fracture in his neck. Allen felt so sad he cried as his mother held his hands. Allen and his mom came home where they couldn’t know what to say or what to feel. They just felt empty and hopeless.

Once they got home, Allen decided to ride the bike to a grassy field where no one was there and he could just be by himself and think about his father’s death. He didn’t know what to say or do. He heard of other people’s fathers dying but he never thought it could happen to him. He couldn’t feel more hopeless or empty or regretful so he decided to just sit in the field and think about nothing. Allen sat in the green field and hung his head low.

As he sat there, the bright blue sky turned into a dark and thunderous storm and Allen thought to himself that this was it. Rain came down in sheets and Allen didn’t care about the water pouring down his head as he felt sad beyond belief. He thought that if he were to die here it would be perfectly fine.

After an hour, the storm passed and Allen was still in the field where he still felt hopeless. But when he looked up, he saw a rainbow which looked so beautiful with the green field that he finally felt a sense of warmth. It was as if he found hope. The rainbow was bright as can be, and each color was perfectly defined.

He heard a voice from the sky say, “Allen, this is how much I love you. I will always be your father no matter what.” It was as if the voice came from the sky and he couldn’t see the person with the voice. Allen felt happier beyond belief and knew the voice was God’s, since it was deeper than a human’s voice and much louder. He couldn’t believe that God was talking to him. He read about God in Church and talked about God with his parents, but he never believed he would actually talk to God in his whole life. The rainbow was so beautiful and so bright and perfectly shaped that he knew God planned it all along.

As Allen rode home, he thought to himself that God was always there for him, and that nothing could break the bond between himself and God. Even if his father wasn’t there, God was always there. No matter how dark and how in despair he could be, God was always there to assure him that he wasn’t alone. The rainbow was like God’s symbol of safety and assurance that Allen was never alone. He always had hope, no matter what. God was like his new dad, and nothing could break the stronger bond now shared between Allen and God. He learned that not everything is as it seems.
