Air

Air

A Poem by BlueShadow

Air

I go to the bed and see the clock

It’s around ten-thirty in the night

I get into bed and hold my pet rock

As a protection from unexpected frights

When I fall asleep, things are peaceful

It’s just like any other night

However, it quickly cascades into something terrible

It’s as if nothing feels right

Pigs flying, cars crashing, people running away

It’s a nightmare, and I don’t know what to do

During the nightmare I go to the sunshine’s rays

And immediately I feel again soothed

I wake up with a jolt thinking the nightmare was real

It wasn’t, and I wake up to a morning

Of orange sunlight and sky teal

It’s morning, not more mourning

I’m happy and free!
