Palm Fronds

     When we board the plane, I feel a sense of nervousness and excitement. I love riding planes because they can move very quickly and carry lots of people with them. I like planes because they are aesthetically pleasing with their two wings and tail fin. Planes are a marvel of human engineering. They are spectacular to watch and even more exciting to ride. 

When I get into my seat, I feel a sense of happiness yet apprehension as I know planes experience turbulence when going through the air. My brother and my mom ride the plane along with me sitting next to me. We are going to Waikiki, Hawaii. 

When the plane starts, it starts slowly but gradually gets faster as it approaches the runway for takeoff. The plane reaches the runway and starts speeding up as it prepares to takeoff. Once it lifts itself above the ground, I feel remarkably at peace because it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. When it’s in the air, we can see the clouds breezing past the plane and I feel like a bird, flying high nearly effortlessly. 

The plane is remarkably stable as it reaches its final height. When it’s as high as it can go, the flight attendants come out and serve soda, chips, and peanuts. I don’t eat anything and the plane continues on moving and moving. Once we reach Waikiki, Hawaii, I feel a sense of happiness since we made it without dying. I just know in my heart that Hawaii will be extremely fun. 

Stepping onto the ground in Hawaii, I feel so happy and excited because I am so glad to feel true, natural warmth from Hawaii’s bright sun. When we reach the hotel, I am stunned by how comfortable it is inside. The hotel room has massage soap for the bathroom and is quite comfy in terms of how well it was designed. The hotel is wonderful. 

On our first day in Hawaii, we go to a very large buffet serving all kinds of foods, from seafood to American food to dessert. The buffet was very expensive because the quality of the food served there was extremely good. I love eating but I control how much I eat and what I eat. There though, it wasn’t easy to control how much I ate. The buffet was very delicious and was very popular, as it had many people. The buffet was a good way to spend the day in Hawaii. Our first day was wonderful. 

On our second day, I feel happy because we are going to go scuba-diving. I’ve never been scuba-diving and have only seen or read about it in books. Scuba-diving to me is scary yet novel at the same time because it’s fun to swim around fish, pretending to be one. Scuba-diving is very enjoyable to me. I love to swim. While scuba-diving, I find myself lost in the beauty and serenity of the ocean. It is an amazing experience to be humbled by the vastness and depth of the ocean and the beauty of the life that is in it. I loved scuba-diving and seeing the colorful fish and white sand that covered the sea floor. 

The third day was our last day because that was what my parents could afford. On our third day, we go to a restaurant that serves cheap, delicious food that I can’t resist. I love eating food that tastes good yet isn’t overly priced. The restaurant serves very good food and I enjoy eating every bit of it. I loved eating the food because it was delicious, yet cheap. 

On our fourth day, we leave Hawaii to come back to the mainland United States. I was amazed at how beautiful Hawaii was and was stunned by how kind the people were. Maybe sometime in the future I could go back. For now however, I am satisfied with being in my “real” home in the U.S.

Very nice writing that gives a good sense of your time in Hawaii. Thank you for sharing. It is nice seeing other places and cultures and it is even nice seeing how you can bring back the things you enjoy and create them for yourself wherever you are. The ocean and all the fish are just a picture away, or closing your eyes on a sunny day and hearing the ocean in your own backyard. All that delicious food can be found in your grocery store and made right at home too. =)
