GratitudeA Story by BlueShadowWhat We Should Remember Asking my mom if we could buy some food, my mom and I get into our car and travel on over to Wal-Mart where we drive to the parking lot. When I get out of the car and step on the parking lot, I remember the pain, effort, and sheer physical labor it took to make the parking lot itself. The parking lot is very drab in appearance. It’s grey, rugged, and ugly, so to speak. However, the parking lot is necessary for the cars to have a place to rest. It took a lot of time and a lot of effort and work to make the parking lot, which most people I don’t think really care about. A lot of things in life people take for granted, such as the home they live in, the stability of their lives, and also the kindness of strangers. I use a parking lot as an example that everyone can relate to and understand who own a car to underline how important it is to be grateful for things that are technically “free” but are very dear to us in importance and value. I personally am grateful for the color of the sky, which is blue, which happens to be my favorite color. When I look at the sky, I am stunned by how beautiful it is yet how natural it also appears to be. If it was some other color such as red, orange, green, or even black, I’m not sure how my life would change. I am grateful that the sky is so pretty, yet also so natural in appearance. My point in writing this is that there are many, perhaps an infinite number of things to be grateful for. If you just take the time, you can find something in your life that is beautiful. © 2021 BlueShadow |
