Magma

Magma

A Poem by BlueShadow

Magma

I always thought boiling water was hot

An ice cube is as cold, as it is hot

Putting an ice cube in your mouth makes it feel painful

Boiling water is more than two-hundred degrees Fahrenheit

Rock is solid, they say

Unbreakable, unshakeable, and unmovable

It’s hard to imagine it can melt

But when it does, it’s a sight to see

Rock is something we think of as unchangeable

It’s constant, something we can trust

When it melts, we’re stunned by its deception

It was nothing like we thought it was

Magma is molten rock

It’s like rock melted under extreme heat

It’s like liquified steel

It’s intriguing to see how it flows the exact same way water flows

The moral of the story: Few things can be trusted
